The concept of the person in Christian social teaching

The concept of the individual is inextricably linked to Christianity and Christian social teaching and philosophy. Long before this principle was first formulated, the Christian view of humanity was the impetus for attempts at peaceful social reform. At a time when social problems were an unprecedented challenge for society as a whole, Christian-motivated individuals created a unique concept. Despite, or perhaps because of, its theoretical depth and foundation, it is impressively pragmatic, practical and empirically verifiable at all times. However, a historical overview of the use of the term 'person' clearly shows how widely it has been and continues to be interpreted and used. This term has certainly not reached the end of its evolution in meaning. For as long as there are people and therefore society, both will continue to change, and with them the concept of the person.
