The WAEMU countries thus continue to underperform compared to other economies. Given that these countries possess inestimable and virtually inexhaustible economic potential, this finding is cause for concern. In the context of economic growth within the WAEMU, several recent studies have focused on the determinants of this growth. For example, analyses have been conducted on the relationship between energy demand, public spending, and economic growth in the WAEMU. The objective of this book is to attempt to provide answers to the following question: What is the impact of the degree of external openness on the economic growth of UEMOA countries? More specifically, the book aims to: - Measure the degree of openness of UEMOA countries - Assess the impact of this degree of openness on the growth of countries in the region.
