I must confess that I often tell these stories from around the world and learn from them still. My hope is that teachers who read these true short stories from my life as a learner and a teacher will listen to them in terms of their own sacred profession, which invites their seeing and attending to their own stories that have such potential to teach. If you find some of the stories familiar, it is because some have appeared in my other books. Or perhaps you have been by my fireplace when I told one of these lovely tales. These stories are not about me, but I am in all of them. They are about the good, wise, generous, kind men and women who are the heroes and heroines of each tale. They entered my life and enriched it beyond words. These stories are not in any sequenced order: this is not a memoir. I am simply grateful to remember and retell them. Je dois avouer que je raconte souvent ces histoires du monde entier et que j'en tire toujours des enseignements. J'espère que les enseignants qui liront ces histoires courtes et vraies de ma vie d'apprenant et d'enseignant les écouteront dans le cadre de leur propre profession sacrée, qui les invite à voir et à écouter leurs propres histoires, qui ont un tel potentiel d'enseignement.
