What is reality? And how can we access it in an increasingly digital and media-orientated society? Or does this question already perhaps find us in an illusionary or imaginary nexus because reality forestalls all understanding? And how can theology and philosophy deal adequately with these questions in the current dispute about realism? Markus Gabriel and Malte Dominik Krüger search for answers in New Realism and Hermeneutic Theology (of Images) and how they relate to one another. Old questions of philosophy and theology's understanding of reality are looked at afresh and made tangible in the new concepts presented in this volume, which documents the first International Bultmann Lecture held in Marburg in 2017.
