Blue is the Warmest Color

- The latest in our line of alternative graphic novels; previous titles include Escape to Gold Mountain (Asian American), The 500 Years of Resistance Comic Book (Native American), and Roy & Al (gay men's). And the latest title of interest to lesbian audiences; others include Persistence: All Ways Butch & Femme and the books of Ivan E. Coyote and Amber Dawn.<BR>- This is Arsenal's fifth translation from the French language; previous titles include Dany Laferriere's The World is Moving Around Me, Hadrien Laroche's The Last Genet, and Louis-Georges Tin's The Dictionary of Homophobia.<BR>- Blue Angel (originally published as Le bleu est une coleur chaude, or "Blue is a Hot Color") is a coming-of-age story; Clementine is a shy young woman whose life is turned upside down when she meets Emma, a confident, punky girl with blue hair who teaches Clementine about love and how to be true to oneself.<BR>- The book has also been translated into Spanish and Dutch. A live-action film version (in French) will be released in Europe in 2013.<BR>- While the characters are young (early twenties), the book includes some fairly explicit material, hence probably inappropriate for young adults. <BR>- Non-traditional market: LGBT accounts; comic book retail accounts.
