Dissertations on the Mechanics of Effervescence and Fermentation, and on the Mechanics of the Movement of the Muscles by Johan Bernoulli

The two "physico-mechanical" dissertations by the Swiss mathematician Johan Bernoulli, "On Effervescence and Fermentation" and "On the Movement of Muscles," published here for the first time in English translation by Paul Maquet, are treatises belonging to the 17th century European academic tradition. In both works the author employs the new mechanical philosophy of science.
