The Bondage of the Will

"The Bondage of the Will" by Martin Luther is a profound theological work that explores the nature of human free will and its relationship to divine grace and sovereignty. Written in response to Erasmus of Rotterdam's defense of free will, Luther argues passionately for the biblical doctrine of God's sovereignty in salvation and the inherent inability of humanity to earn or merit salvation through their own efforts. This treatise is considered one of Luther's most significant contributions to Protestant theology, influencing debates on predestination, grace, and the nature of faith throughout Christian history.
