Nanotechnology and Glass Ionomer Cement

With the advancements in medical technology the materials used while rendering dental care is fascinating area of research. The ideal restorative material for teeth is still elusive. Even after introduction of various dental restorative materials after phasing out of amalgam, the most time-tested and trusted material for many dentists is still glass ionomer cement (GIC). The basic enchanting properties of this material help not only in treatment but also in prevention. So it was the need of time to revisit its basic advantages and amalgamate it with newer technologies including nanotechnology.
