Jacob Böhme is regarded as one of the most influential thinkers in the history of European thought; nevertheless, his work remains difficult to access due to his obscure, dialectical style of writing, the hermetic nature of his topics, and the still insufficient state of editorial scholarship. Giulia Baldelli is the first to shed light on the genesis and publication history of his writings, examining changes in the textual material as well as the role of editors, copyists, and followers. She demonstrates how systematic revisions, segmentations, and editorial interventions each open up new pathways into Böhme's thought.
