'My home is Switzerland, but in my heart I am Italian'

The increasing mobility in today's society means that territorial, social and cultural barriers are being overcome. Migration thus leads to great diversity in the cultural and social spheres. But what does migration trigger in a migrant? This book examines the identity of first- and second-generation migrants in relation to their relationship with their host country and country of origin.

In 2017, I completed my master's degree in sociology at the University of Zurich. As a Swiss citizen with an Italian migrant background, the topic of identity has been on my mind since childhood. Homi K. Bhabha's theory gave me a reason to explore this topic in depth in my work.
